What you’ll learn

Inside a small airplane cockpit, a person is holding the aircraft's control stick with one hand, with a flight instrument panel and a map on their lap, preparing for flight.
  • In the Navigating the Map lesson, you’ll learn how to move around the live aircraft map with confidence — whether you’re on mobile or desktop. We’ll show you how to zoom, pan, and switch between different map styles like satellite view or standard map, with or without labels. You’ll also discover how to search for specific aircraft or airports, toggle aircraft you’ve already seen, and explore airport pins to view real-time arrivals and parked aircraft. By the end of this lesson, the map won’t just look cool — it’ll be your personal spotting command centre.

  • In the Adding an Aircraft to Your Sightings lesson, you’ll learn how to log your first aircraft and start building your personal spotting history. We’ll walk you through how to select an aircraft from the map, add it to your sightings list, and update the location if it’s not quite right. You’ll also learn how to upload a photo — whether from your gallery or camera — and edit key details like the date, location, and even delete the sighting if needed. By the end of this lesson, you’ll know exactly how to record your sightings quickly and accurately, turning your map taps into a proper aircraft logbook.

  • In the Viewing Your Sightings lesson, you’ll learn how to access and manage all the aircraft you’ve logged on Have I Seen It. We’ll show you how to navigate to your personal sightings list, search by registration, and filter by aircraft type, operator, or date. You’ll also learn how to edit sightings — including updating locations, swapping images, or correcting dates — and even how to remove duplicates to keep your log clean. By the end of this lesson, you’ll have full control over your spotting history and a clear view of your progress so far.
